Library Services: About

Learn about Interlibrary Loan, instruction requests, reference, and course reserves.

Our Resources

A wealth of online resources is available to students 24/7 from any device with internet access. Full text electronic books, full text journal articles, newspapers, art images, and educational streaming videos are all available.  Professional librarians are available for research assistance.

The physical collection is composed of over 60,000 items, including books, paper periodicals, DVDs, music CDs, audio books, and maps.  We will consider your suggestions for purchase.

The Library subscribes to newspapers, including the Santa Fe New Mexican, the Albuquerque Journal, and the New York Times.  In addition, we subscribe to many popular magazines such as The Nation, Rolling Stone, Time, the Atlantic, and many, many more.

Items may be placed on reserve by faculty members for specific classes. Click here to search a class list for available reserve items.  These items are located at the Circulation Desk, are available to be checked out for two hours, and must be used in the Library only.

The Rare Books Room contains over two thousand volumes of Native American, Mexican, New Mexican and Southwestern United States materials. Many of the materials are rare or out of print.  These materials may be located using the Library's online catalog and are available for use within the Library with the presentation of a student ID or other photo ID.

Our Services

Research assistance and reference help are available from professional librarians during the Library's open hours. We can answer questions, help find resources, explain how the library works, or demonstrate how to use the Library's databases. Stop by, say hello, and let us know how we can help you or email us with questions.

The circulation desk is a central location for basic information, reserve materials, interlibrary loans, and library passports. Library materials are checked out and returned at the circulation desk.

Interlibrary loan is a service for Library patrons in good standing.  We can request items that we do not own from other libraries.  (Please note: we do not request required texts for classes.)  Request forms are available at the circulation desk or on the Library tab in Jack.

Library Passports for borrowing items directly from other academic libraries are available at the circulation desk. The Library issues passports only to current Santa Fe Community College students, faculty and staff in good standing.

Library Facilities

The Library space on the SFCC campus is a welcoming, academic space that is filled with natural light and wonderful views.  It is conducive to studying, reading, and relaxing between classes.  We welcome you to enjoy the Library.  Food and drinks are allowed in the Library.

Book returns are located at four locations on campus: in the foyer in front of the Library, in the main entrance, a curbside return located near the steps leading to the main entrance to the campus, and in the north parking lot.

Photocopies are available from a self-serve copy machine in the Library at 5 cents per page for black and white and 50 cents for color. The machine makes change; the Library does not provide change.

Study rooms in the Library are available to currently enrolled SFCC students, faculty, and staff on a first-come, first-served basis with a two-hour limit.  Patrons must check out a key at the circulation desk.  DVD players are located in the study rooms.
