Help with borrowing materials, physical or electronic, from other institutions.

Materials NOT Available for Interlibrary Loan

  • Periodical volumes
  • Bulky or fragile items
  • Reference books
  • Rare or valuable material such as manuscript
  • Lending institutions may not lend materials according to their own policies

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) may be used to obtain library materials for individual study and research which are not available at the Santa Fe Community College Library but are available from other libraries or document delivery services.  Before requesting an item you must first check the SFCC catalog to make sure that we do not own it. https://www.sfcc.edu/offices/library/  You may place an interlibrary loan request if we do own the item but it is already checked out.

How does it work?

  • Interlibrary Loan is available to currently registered SFCC students, faculty, and staff only.

  • Borrowing patrons must have a current SFCC ID and their library account must be in good standing.

  • Patrons may have outstanding ILL requests for up to 5 items at a time.  ILLs are checked out to the patron and will count in the 10 item limit on an account.

  • Delivery times are generally 7-10 business days.  The Library strives to provide the shortest possible time from request to item availability but an availability date to the patron is not guaranteed.

  • When ILL loans arrive, notification will be sent via e-mail or phone, and items will be available for pick up through the curbside delivery service.  Any materials not picked up by the patron within 10 days will be returned to the lending library.
