Too few or too many results?

• Spelling counts! Check your spelling 
• Remove stop words. Stop words include: a, an, the, in, of, on, are, be, if, into, which
• Search with keywords, not sentences
  • For example, reduce the sentence, the effects of globalization on poor communities to its main aspects (keywords and keyword phrases), which are, globalization AND poverty
• Try synonyms for keywords
  • For example, try worldwide AND scarcity for globalization AND poverty
• Use the Boolean operator AND to join keywords. AND narrows your search
• Broaden your search with Boolean operator OR
  • For example, globalization OR worldwide AND poverty OR scarcity
• Experiment with amounts of keywords in a search
• If applicable, try variant spellings
  • For example, using globalisation will retrieve different results than globalization
• Surround keyword phrases (words dependent upon each other that form a concept) with quotation marks
  • For example, "global warming" is a keyword phrase
