Help for embedding permalinks and video content into your Canvas course shells.

Linking/Embedding Videos

We highly recommend that you embed the video directly into your course shell using Canvas' LTI Tool. (What is LTI?) LTI is quick and easy and has proven to be the most convenient and consistently functional method.

  1. Go to your Canvas course shell. Click the + icon to add an item.
  2. In the Add drop-down menu, select External Tool.
  3. Scroll until you see Films on Demand. Select it.
  4. A box will open up in which you can search the Films on Demand database.
  5. Search for the video you'd like to use. Once you've identified it, under the Embed drop-down menu select the embed size you'd like.
  6. The LTI link will automatically be inserted into the URL field.
  7. Change the text in the Page Name field if desired.
  8. Click Add Item.

By using LTI, students will not need to log in a second time.
