Faculty Help: Linking/Embedding Library Resources: Linking Articles

Help for embedding permalinks and video content into your Canvas course shells.

Embedding Permalinks to Articles

To link directly to an article from one of our databases:

  1. Once you have found the article you want, click the permalink icon (looks like a chain-link). This can be found either on the right-hand side or along the top of the screen. Here's what it should look like:
    undefined   or   undefined
This step can be done either from the Detail Record screen or within the full-text of the article.
  2. A box will open up displaying the permalink. Copy the URL.
  3. Paste the URL in your Canvas course shell, just as you would any other link. (ie. in a Discussion, or Assignment, etc.)
Helpful Tip: Include a reminder to students that from off-campus, they will be prompted to log in with their MySFCC credentials.

Credo Reference

The Credo Reference database is a collection of online, full-text articles from highly specialized encyclopedias and dictionaries. These sources give students an excellent overview of thousands of topics by providing background information from a variety of vetted sources. It is important to note, however, that Credo Reference does not contain peer-reviewed academic journals.

If you'd like to embed an article from Credo Reference into your course shell, check out this video.
